Can valacyclovir treat genital herpes?

Hello, I have oral herpes... and I wonder if I might have genital herpes... I am on vacation and will not be back until Sept. 11... I have pills to treat oral herpes. So until I get tested.... pro valacyclovir: (500mg, 4 tablets 1x and 4 tablets 1x after 12hrs of first pills) Can you tell me if : Pro valacyclovir can relieve me for genital herpes if yes is it the same treatment? 2x 4 12h Thanks :(

Hello ma'am, The dose of valacyclovir for a first episode is 2 tablets of 500 mg to be taken twice a day for 7 to 10 days. For recurrences it is 1 tablet twice daily for 3 days. However, I strongly recommend that you see a doctor where you are, even if it means paying the cost and getting reimbursed by your travel insurance company, in order to get the right diagnosis and, if necessary, not delay the right treatment.
