Hello Ma'am,
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition that affects the hand and wrist. It is caused by compression or impingement of the median nerve. This condition occurs in the following conditions: arthritis, hand shock or injury, hormonal changes, or repeated movements of the hand or wrist.
People may feel tingling or pins and needles at first, and then later on there is an onset of pain, a feeling of swelling in the fingers, or a decrease in the sensitivity of the fingers, among others. It is possible to have this condition at your age.
In your case, given the intensity of the pain and the presentation of the symptoms (last summer), I would advise you to see a doctor to have a more thorough medical evaluation.
Waiting for your appointment, you can make use of Tylenol for the pain and application of cold compresses to reduce swelling if needed.
Do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions!
Happy day,
Kenza Rais, Pharmacy Intern.
