I wake up at night because I feel a tingling/heat in my hand, fingers and forearm. During the day I try to crack and stretch my hand, but it still hurts. I have been in pain since last summer or so.

Hello Ma'am, Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition that affects the hand and wrist. It is caused by compression or impingement of the median nerve. This condition occurs in the following conditions: arthritis, hand shock or injury, hormonal changes, or repeated movements of the hand or wrist. People may feel tingling or pins and needles at first, and then later on there is an onset of pain, a feeling of swelling in the fingers, or a decrease in the sensitivity of the fingers, among others. It is possible to have this condition at your age. In your case, given the intensity of the pain and the presentation of the symptoms (last summer), I would advise you to see a doctor to have a more thorough medical evaluation.
