Is it possible that the sinus rinse is causing or worsening an ear infection? Or, on the contrary, should I continue to help the situation?

Hello, my 4 year old son has had a cold for several days. He blows his nose very well. Yesterday he was a little hot, without fever, so I used the Sinus Rinse to avoid an ear infection. However, every time we do the sinus rinse, he holds his ears because he says it hurts. Last night, he woke up because his ear hurt a lot. I gave him some advil. Now that the advil is not working anymore, he still has pain.

Hello,
My 4 year old son has had a cold for several days, but he blows his nose well. However, yesterday, he was a little hot (without having a fever) so I gave him a sinus rinse to try to avoid an ear infection. When we do the nasal hygiene, he always holds his head because it hurts his ears. Last night he woke up because his ears hurt. Is it possible that in trying to help him, the sinus rinse actually made the situation worse?

Hello ma'am, is he complaining about the ear being blocked or just the pain?
