Hello,
Several factors can cause redness around the baby's mouth:
- salivation, especially during teething season;
- the use of a pacifier that keeps this area moist;
- during a cold, the nasal discharge settles above the mouth and irritates the skin;
- because of food;
- due to licking around the mouth.
These patches can disappear as they came, provided, of course, that you adopt the right gestures. Therefore, give priority to :
- cleaning with water and mild soap;
- a meticulous drying without rubbing;
- use a non-occlusive soothing cream, based on oatmeal or zinc oxide, to be applied at bedtime.
Wipe your baby's mouth as soon as you notice that he or she is drooling: leave a diaper nearby, which is very soft and less irritating than a bib.
- Sponge up excess milk if your baby is bottle-fed rather than rubbing.
- Clean around the mouth with water or micellar water, then moisturize and nourish the skin with a special baby cream.
If you don't see any improvement despite these gestures to soothe and prevent irritation, or if your baby seems to be bothered and it itches or even burns, it's best to consult your doctor
Have a nice day!
