Hello, I have some questions.

Do you have any special conditions? are you taking any other medications besides those for depression and if possible have the name of the antidepressant, any allergies? and how long have you been suffering from insomnia and how long have you been taking the antidepressant?

I've only been taking Effexor and insomnia for about a week and a half!

i ask because insomnia is one of the symptoms of depression. What is the dose of Effexor that you are taking and is it better (mood wise) when you take

37.5 mg if I am not mistaken. Yes, it is much better

During the first weeks of my work stoppage I slept well and I didn't have any dreams/nightmares at night. However, this did not last. So I wonder if melatonin could help me

Yes, it can help, there is the dosage of 10mg per day 30 minutes before bedtime. On the other hand, insomnia related to dreams and nightmares is part of the symptoms of depression. As you said, you should feel better 2 to 3 weeks after taking the antidepressant with a complete improvement (mood, sleep, appetite ...) in 8 weeks. So you can take melatonin now but really need to follow up with the doctor in 1 month to evaluate the dose (possibility to increase because in my opinion 37.5mg is a little low)

At this time, take the melatonin until you see the doctor.
Welcome back.
