Hello, my 5 month old baby has a lot of toothache. I give him tempra but it seems to relieve him more or less. *He weighs 16 lbs.

Hello,
Motrin is not recommended for use in children under 6 months of age without medical advice, which means that they should be seen by a doctor before being given any. However, there are other options.
How much Tempra do you give? At his weight, we can give him up to 110mg per dose, max 5 doses per day. Depending on the product you have at home, the 110mg must be converted into ml. If you have trouble doing the math, call us!
There are always other products, such as Orajel baby or Camilia from Boiron, that could be tried but keep in mind that these are homeopathic products so don't be alarmed if their effectiveness is not very good
Finally, non-pharmacological measures can be tried, such as massaging the gums or giving a teething ring.

Thank you very much for your answer! I am currently giving him 1.25ml for the tempra. I have also tried camilia which sometimes seems to work a little bit.

Do you know the concentration of your Tempra? Depending on the concentration you can calculate a more accurate dose based on weight than on age.
80mg/ml = 1.4ml per dose
160mg/5ml = 3.4ml per dose

give him 1.4ml instead of 1.25ml?
