Is it possible that my ditropan is causing me urinary retention/dysuria?

Hello, My doctor has prescribed me Ditropan lately and I don't think it helps. My frequent urges to urinate are very present and even more so than before (I already consulted my doctor today on the phone and he prescribed me another medication of the same kind instead) which I will start taking tomorrow. However, since today, I notice that my urine flow is weaker. And I tend to push to make sure everything comes out. The amount of urination is small to medium, with urges really often. I don't have any infection my 3 ECBU's are fine. Do you think there could be a link? What should I do? Thanks

Hello, thank you for your question!
Would it be possible to know how long you have been taking Ditropan, and if you stopped it following your consultation?
Thanks in advance

Hello!
I started the Ditropan on Thursday evening November 4, then my last one was yesterday morning. And it was since Sunday night that I noticed I was urinating a little more...my doctor prescribed another medication that I have to pick up today. So I haven't taken Ditropan in 24 hours.

Thanks for the clarification!
If your symptoms are secondary to Ditropan, they should quickly disappear following its cessation.

Thank you! My doctor prescribed Desmopressin spray instead for 2 weeks. I was also wondering if I could take midols for menstrual cramps with it, knowing that ibuprofen/advil is to be avoided at the same time?
Also, I was usually wondering how long it can take before the medication (Desmopressin) kicks in? Thank you so much in advance

Thanks for the feedback.
Caution is indeed recommended with anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, but it is not necessarily contraindicated. When it must be taken, for example in your case, the smallest effective dose and shortest possible duration of treatment is recommended.
In fact, I would recommend adding non-pharmacological measures if that hasn't already been tried, such as a hot water bottle for cramps.
As for effectiveness, you can get an idea pretty quickly, 3 to 5 days.

Thanks I will try that!
And last question please: On my Desmopressin nasal pamphlet, it says to be careful with the liquid ingested so you don't have excess. But no one told me exactly how much liquid you can take? I drink water in general and I stopped drinking coffee a month ago. But is it dangerous if I drink my 2-3 glasses of water a day again! Seems like it's not clear and I obviously want to take every precaution... Thanks

Good question! I understand the purpose behind the warning! However I would suggest that you don't change your habits, don't restrict yourself when it comes to your hydration :)
