Is it possible that it's a fungus? or eczema? but it doesn't sting. I wish I could finally do something about it!

I have had irritated corners of my mouth for the past 2 weeks. It started with each corner of my lips cracking because my lips were too dry, but they keep on cracking again and again and the irritation continues around it, it's red one around and it's sensitive. The pharmacist told me to put Vaseline and that it was normal that it takes time to heal, but it always ends up coming back since 2 weeks... When I was younger, I had a similar situation and I was given an antifungal cream because it could have been a fungus, I think it worked.

Good morning, ma'am,
This often happens to people who repeatedly lick the corner of their lips. The first thing to do is to be aware of it and try to avoid it.
I suggest that you use an oily ointment, such as Vaseline or Aquaphor, to alleviate the dryness. You can apply it as often as necessary during the day, there is no maximum number of times a day, that's the most important.
Also, protect your face when you go out by applying a moisturizer and wearing a neck warmer (or face cover) or scarf.
I invite you to try these measures diligently over the next few days.
I will remain available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, Pharmacist

Hello,
I'm not licking my lips though, and I've been very diligent with the Vaseline for the past week and a half as I stated in my message, and the situation is not getting better. The Vaseline seems to control the situation a little if I apply it constantly, but it keeps spreading or coming back.
Is it possible that it's more of an infection (fungus style)? It seems to be spreading.
thank you,

Thanks for the feedback.
This type of situation can be caused by the presence of fungus, although it is rare. If you wish, you could try applying an antifungal such as Canesten 3 times a day but if the situation persists, a medical consultation is suggested, if only as a precaution, to rule out other causes.
