My baby regurgitates often, is it possible that she is lactose intolerant?

30-year-old womana year ago
Hello, Since he was born, my baby regurgitates very often and sometimes large quantities of milk after each feeding (breastfed baby). However, I know that at her age (1.5 months) spit-up is considered normal since the stomach valve is not yet mature. That being said, we have also noticed that for the past 3 weeks or so, she tends to have frequent greenish, foamy stools, sometimes even slimy (looks like mucus). She also has a lot of gas which seems to give her a big stomach ache. Finally, she also had a big episode of diaper rash that lasted for about 3 weeks (it's been 1 week since we managed to get rid of it all).

Good morning, ma'am,
Although the situation can be quite unpleasant, it does not necessarily indicate a problem. Regurgitation, as long as it is not vomiting, is very common as you mentioned. Keep in mind that your baby basically has to learn to digest on his own, and that this does not happen without difficulty.
As long as your baby is wetting and soiling his or her diaper, gaining weight and looking good, there is no need to worry.
First and foremost, try measures to reduce the risk and frequency of spit-up:
  • Be sure to use a "1" nipple, as higher numbers are bigger and this can result in the baby "gorging";
  • Interrupt feedings often to pass gas, at least 3 times;
  • Give smaller amounts at a time, even if it means giving more often;
  • Avoid changing the baby's position after feeding and do not put her down for 20 minutes afterwards.

I hope I have been helpful, I remain available if you have any further questions
