Can I take Tylenol if I am breastfeeding?

29-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, I am breastfeeding my 2 month old son. Is there any contraindication to taking extra strength tylenol? Does the dosage remain the same (Max 8 in 24h)? 1 every 4 to 6 hours? Thank you for your help!

Good morning, ma'am,
There is no contraindication to taking Tylenol while breastfeeding, and the dosage is the same as for a person who is not breastfeeding, i.e., 1 to 2 500 mg tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed, with a maximum of 8 tablets per 24-hour period.
I hope I have been helpful to you and I am available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
