I forgot my contraceptive and I had an affair, should I take the morning after pill?

19-year-old woman3 years ago
Hello, I am 16 years old and I am taking the contraceptive pill (Optilova 20). Except that Saturday night I forgot to take it and I only realized it the next day when I wanted to take the other one. I took both pills immediately, since it's my third week and it was indicated on the instructions. Only, the day after I forgot to take the pill, I had unprotected sex. I wanted to know if it was necessary to take the morning-after pill to avoid the risk of pregnancy or if I could skip it and go straight to the next pack as prescribed during a missed pill. I'm turning to you because I don't dare ask in person and it's easier for me here. Thank you in advance.

Hello,
According to the available data, it is recommended to take a morning-after pill if you have had unprotected sex on the day you forget to take it or in the 5 days before you forget. If the only unprotected intercourse took place the day after you forgot, you are protected in theory. However, it would not be dangerous to take the morning-after pill if you want to be reassured
I hope this answers your question,
Sandrine
