Can the pharmacists give the request for the TSH blood test and then, depending on the results, change my dose, if necessary?

Synthroid--I don't have a family doctor anymore and I need to renew my synthroid so I need to have blood drawn to check TSH. I called the First Line Access Desk to see a doctor and was told that pharmacists can now give me the request to go and do the blood test? I think she was mistaken and meant they can extend until I can see a doctor. I would think that would be great, because in my life I've only changed my dose 3 times, and I can recognize when my dose is too high, and it would save me from going to the doctor just to get a paper to take a blood test and leave room for people to go to the doctor, because they don't feel well. I called my pharmacy to inquire and they never called me back...

Hello and thank you for your question :)
Indeed your pharmacist can prescribe you laboratory tests if you are treated for hypothyroidism.
For the adjustment, if necessary, usually we must have the agreement of your doctor, but when you lose your doctor there are ways to organize, among others with the GAP.
I hope this answers your question :)
Have a nice day,
Emmanuelle
