Can the pharmacist re-prescribe domperidone if I have had it in the past?

29-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello ! I am at my 3rd baby and he is 3 months old, breastfeeding was very difficult at the beginning because he was very small so I pumped my milk and I am starting to breastfeed him more and more. However my production is not enough. I already had domperidond in the past but it's been more than 2 years Can the pharmacist re-prescribe it for me? I am not able to have an appointment with my family doctor.

Thank you for your question!
Unfortunately, this type of medication cannot be prescribed by your pharmacist. A doctor will have to do it after a thorough evaluation of your condition
If your family doctor is not available, I invite you to consult without an appointment. The Rendez-vous Santé Québec platform can be used to try to obtain an appointment, or the Bonjour Santé platform, for a fee.
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
