Can a pharmacist prescribe medication to treat a urinary tract infection?

32-year-old woman5 years ago
I had a urinary infection about a month ago. This week, the same symptoms are coming back (constant urge to urinate, discomfort when urinating). Should I absolutely make an appointment with my family doctor to get a prescription? Please note that I do not have any allergies. Thank you for your help!

Good evening ma'am,
No need to go to a doctor in this case. The pharmacist will likely (based on the information you provide me) be able to prescribe an antibiotic for your present infection.
Please stop by the pharmacy tomorrow to manage the infection promptly.
True to your word,
Alexandre Chagnon, pharmacist
