Can the pharmacist prescribe antibiotics or medication, or do I have to see a doctor again?

Hello, 11 days ago I was diagnosed with strep throat. I took my antibiotics for 10 days. However, today my right tonsil is very swollen with redness and it hurts a lot.

Hello, ma'am,
Pharmacists cannot prescribe an antibiotic for this type of condition.
Acetaminophen (Tylenol and other brands) remains the best treatment for pain. Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin and other brands, if you or your child have no contraindications to taking them, your pharmacist will be able to confirm this) can also help with pain, as well as lozenges like Halls or Fisherman's Friend.
I also encourage you to drink plenty of fluids, cold or hot, as you prefer.
If the situation persists for more than 7 days without improvement, you should consult a doctor as a precaution.
I am available if you have any further questions!
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
