This drug contains the equivalent of Benadryl. The people who market Zzzquil are using the side effect of this drug to induce drowsiness to help people who have trouble sleeping.

You should be aware that this medication, while most likely safe during pregnancy, will only temporarily help your sleep problem. Humans develop a rapid tolerance to this medication (the effect is less and less strong at the same dose), so it is not uncommon for some people to have to take larger doses and even become addicted to this type of medication.

Please note that all over-the-counter medications (on the shelves) carry these same risks. I therefore recommend that you discuss your sleep problems with your pharmacist to identify tips (without risk for you and your baby) that can help you!
