I'm afraid I might have phlebitis, what are the signs to look out for? I feel like it could be caused by my sciatica too. Thanks

Hello,
Typically, a phlebitis (or venous thrombosis) will reach the thigh. It is more rare to have phlebitis in the lower part of the knee. Phlebitis also affects only one side (right or left) and not both sides at the same time. The symptoms appear suddenly and not gradually. Signs to watch for are:
  • Swelling on only one side that persists and does not vary during the day. It feels like the limb is double the other one
  • Warmth to the touch
  • Redness
  • Significant pain that appears suddenly
When you have the symptoms of phlebitis, you must go to the emergency room as soon as possible.

No swelling for the moment, it's been 2-3 days, is the pain of a phlebitis like a stretched nerve pain? When I stretch my leg it is worse, otherwise sitting down it is not really painful.

at the beginning it was in the calf but since yesterday it is located behind the knee approximately

The pain of phlebitis is quite intense and persistent. People usually have enough pain to seek help as soon as it happens. Also, the pain and swelling do not change from one day to the next
Hope to see you soon,
