I'm afraid of being pregnant even though there is almost no chance but I still want to ask.

In fact, if I use condoms (and I wash them after each intercourse) plus I take the pill, can I get pregnant? And the reason I'm asking this question is that I'm often bloated, flatulent.

And I always use lube to prevent tearing and I always put the perfect condom with no area at the end and the reservoir visible

Hello,
To reassure you, a condom is 98% effective when used correctly, as you describe to me.
Here are some tips to ensure that condoms are effective:
  • Do not store condoms in heat, cold, moisture or light;
  • Always check the expiration date before using condoms;
  • Always check the expiration date before using condoms; Choose the right condom: too tight and it may break during sex or too large and it may slip off;
  • Use only silicone or water-based lubricants and avoid any petroleum jelly or oil-based substances that would alter the latex condom;
  • Place the condom on the penis before penetration.
As far as the contraceptive pill is concerned, it is more than 99.7% effective when used perfectly (e.g. no forgetting). We are talking about 91% with "real" use.
You understand that by using both methods, your protection is very effective!
I hope I have answered your question correctly,
Pierre-Luc Tremblay, pharmacist
