My 55 year old father thinks he has a kidney stone. What should he do, knowing that we try as little as possible to get out during a pandemic?

For the past 2 days, he has had severe pain in his lower left side. It is sporadic and more often at night. It lasts from 20 to 30 minutes. Do we need to go see a doctor right away, or can the stone go away by itself? We are trying not to go anywhere these days, as we are taking care of a home for the elderly and we don't want to put these residents at risk of covid-19.

Good evening ma'am,
Your father should consult via a video consultation service to see if a stone could be involved here (it's quite possible). If his doctor doesn't offer the service, he should turn to a service like Bonjour Santé.
In the meantime, let him drink plenty of water and take it more easy.
