What do you think of the SAMe product?

I am 65 years old. I stopped taking cipralex 10 mg 5 months ago because it is too enzyme to the liver. I take lipitor 10 mg. I feel a little anxious creating negative thoughts. What do you think of SAMe to help with serotonin, say 800 mg a day? Is it dangerous for the liver? thank you Are all other options SSRIs as well?

Good morning, ma'am, The information I have found on this product indicates that it is usually safe when used according to the manufacturer's instructions Some small studies have reported that this product could be used as a second line adjunct for depression (i.e. in addition to a conventional treatment such as an antidepressant with or without cognitive behavioral therapy), but it has not shown any benefit when taken alone. I could not find any information on its effect on the liver, but this does not indicate a lack of effect on the liver but a lack of data. That being written, if you feel that your state of mind is not in a good place for you, I strongly suggest that you talk to your doctor. I understand that Cipralex has not been satisfactory on your end, but there are many other safe options.
