It is a little difficult to see, is the fingertip swollen?

If it is swollen, you will need to apply ice for 10-15 minutes at a time, as often as needed during the day. However, if the swelling increases, or other symptoms occur such as increasing pain or fever, a doctor should be consulted.

If the broken nail falls off, simply keep the area clean with water and mild soap, and cover with a bandage.

I see. The purple could also be the result of the initial injury. As long as the brand new growth looks healthy, continue to cover the area and monitor.
