It is never mandatory to get tested before having relations.

However, if it is a new partner, one of you has had relations with another person before and no screening has been done until now, it is strongly recommended to get tested.

Most sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are asymptomatic and can be transmitted regardless of the type of sexual intercourse (oral, vaginal, anal). In fact, STIs have been on the rise in recent years.
