Do I need regular monitoring and adjustment of my hormones?

47-year-old woman2 years ago
I started taking progesterone and estrogen hormones 1 year ago... I have no family doctor! There is no follow-up to maximize and adjust my hormone levels. Where can I go and is it necessary? Is it normal to always take the same dose?

Hello ma'am, thank you for your question!
Monitoring hormone levels in the blood is not recommended for hormone therapy, there is no reliable data or reference to support this practice. The goal is the lowest effective dose
Are the medications you are currently taking helping your menopausal symptoms? Have you registered for a family doctor here?

My hormones relieve some of the symptoms but not all... is this an indicator that the dose is not appropriate?

If you have other symptoms, such as vaginal dryness or irritation, you should indeed consider a local option (in addition to what you take if you have hot flashes)
for treatment, it is important to assess whether the frequency of hot flashes has decreased in number, and whether the interference with daily activities and rest has diminished. It is possible that the symptoms do not disappear completely
In this regard, a consultation with your pharmacist could be very beneficial. A dose adjustment could be proposed according to his/her judgment, or he/she could make recommendations to the prescriber.
