I have been feeling nauseous since I stopped taking Florinef, what can I do?

Hello, I have orthostatic hypotension and I suffer from dysautomy. Following my last meeting with my cardiologist 2 weeks ago, he withdrew the florinef 0.1 mg that I had been taking for more than 3 years and increased my midodrine. I was at 5 mx 3x/day and he increased to 10 mg 3x/day and added a small dose of Nadolol 10 mg. I have been feeling very nauseous for a few days. Can this be due to stopping the florinef in your opinion? Also I have to have a 300 mg venofer infusion this afternoon, can I take something afterwards to alleviate the nausea? Thank you

Hello Mrs,
Nausea is not impossible after stopping the medication, but it is rare, especially if the medication was stopped gradually. Is this the case for you?

Hello,
In my case, I was taking 0.1 mg for more than three years and it was stopped overnight .

Thanks for the feedback!
I don't know your case inside and out but usually, such a treatment is not stopped overnight, it has to be done gradually. Unless there is an indication to stop Florinef quickly, a withdrawal schedule is usually instituted...
Do you know why Florinef was stopped? Would it be possible to confirm with your pharmacist why withdrawal was not done/proposed?

In my case I had gained a little more than 10 lbs since the beginning of the treatment for orthostatic hypotension with this medication and it was helping my condition but the results were not spectacular so he simply wanted to remove the weight gain and replace it with midodrine which I tolerate well and which is more effective for me. Is it dangerous to stop abruptly? I am 2 weeks into it tomorrow? Thank you

Thanks for the feedback
It is not recommended to stop this type of treatment abruptly as it may prevent the functioning of certain processes in your body. The gradual decrease may help the body to get used to it and resume 'normal' processes. I strongly recommend asking your doctor about this.
