Hello,
For people who have severe reactions (i.e. anaphylaxis), a few minutes can make the difference in saving a person's life. Indeed, this type of reaction is unpredictable and can evolve rapidly
Therefore, it is important to be alert to its symptoms. Epipen should be injected quickly at the onset of a severe allergy symptom or in the presence of mild symptoms suggesting the beginning of a reaction that could worsen. I refer you to the Allergies Québec website which contains a clear table of symptoms to watch for (mild, severe) and when to inject
It is also important that those around you be alert and be able to inject it if necessary. When in doubt, know that even if Epipen is used unnecessarily, the medication is safe for your health.
