Can chlamydia cause fertility problems?

24-year-old woman2 years ago
I have heard scare stories about untreated itss. I had chlamydia 2 years ago. However, I don't know if it was 2 months or 8 months since I had it. I had been tested at the beginning of my relationship and got cheated. So why the 8 months (when I knew I had this itss). I got treated and have been tested 4 times since then and they are all negative. Knowing that it may have affected my fertility, I was wondering if a max of 8 months in my body, it has a risk.

Good morning, ma'am,
Unfortunately, there is no set period that has been established for this. Many people have no symptoms when they are infected, so their infection is not treated quickly. The important thing is to get tested when you have a new partner, or if your status or their status is not known, to wear a condom
Sincerely,

Thank you for your response. So I'm not the only person who didn't get treatment as quickly as possible. I guess taking the antiobiotics was the only thing I had to do under the circumstances.
Just because I had an itss doesn't mean I'm automatically infertile?

Yes, that's exactly it.

And if a person has had it twice, as long as it has been treated everything is fine? It doesn't really matter?

This, however, is more difficult to answer, depending on the time between the infection and the treatment. Every episode of infection carries a risk, so it is better to avoid it with basic protection and precautionary measures.
