Hello,
Reactine may require a few days of regular use to be fully effective. For a quick effect, Benadryl syrup for children could be used before bedtime.
The only effective drops available without a prescription (behind the counter) are Opticron or Cromolyn (the same product), officially indicated for children over 5 years of age, but sometimes used in younger children. However, there is a delay of 2 to 3 days before it starts to work.
So for tonight, I would recommend a dose of Benadryl, and continue with the Reactine regularly. Cold compresses can be applied to the closed eyes to reduce the itching.
