Can you give antibiotic ear drops to a 3 year old?

29-year-old woman2 years ago
My daughter started a cold about a week ago. She is getting better and better. She has not had a fever. I looked in her ear and I see bubbles on her eardrum. According to several nurses, seems to be bullous myringitis. I think it could be viral but I don't want to take a chance. She does not complain except when I go to Ste-Justine's nasal hygiene she has pain in her ears (sometimes left, sometimes right).

Thank you for your question!
Discomfort during nasal hygiene is common. It is suggested to reduce the volume of water used (fill the bottle to make the mixture but do not use it all), or to apply less pressure on the bottle to make a less powerful jet.
I do not recommend using Polysporin, especially since it does not seem to bother your child, and as you reported, it is most likely something that will go away on its own.
Sincerely,
