I have shingles and pain, what should I do?

Hello, I have been diagnosed with Shingles in my face. I am on my second day of antivirals. So far it seems to be getting worse and I'm wondering if this is normal? My upper lip is extremely swollen, which makes it hard to eat. I don't know if this is normal and wonder when I will start seeing improvement. The tylenols/advils and statex are not helping much...

Hello, thank you for your question! I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
The combination of Tylenol/Advil/Morphine is usually the one recommended for pain during the active phase of shingles
You should avoid applying anything to the active lesions, as the fluid they contain is very contagious to you and others
If the painkillers you are taking are insufficient, I strongly recommend that you discuss this with your pharmacist who will contact the prescriber with alternatives.
I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate!
