The logic behind not taking a very hot bath after injecting methotrexate is that it may increase the absorption of the drug, which can cause you to have more side effects. Dilated blood vessels are involved.

Be aware that this same dilation of the blood vessels could also occur when the bath (or spa) is taken before the injection, and it is very difficult to predict how long it will take to prevent this from happening.

For this reason, I recommend that you avoid the spa in the hours before and after you receive your methotrexate injection.
