What is the best ointment to heal cracks and/or prevent them?

For more than a year I have had small cracks on the outside, around my anus. I use vaseline, zinc, emu etc. Sometimes if I have a hard stool it bleeds a little. How can I treat it? Can I use a topical corticosteroid? they are not hemorrhoids, only cracks.

Hello Mrs There are over-the-counter products for hemorrhoids. Your pharmacist will be able to tell you which ones to use according to his inventory and your preferences. The best way to prevent constipation is to increase your fiber intake: fruits and vegetables, brown bread, brown rice, oatmeal, enriched cereals, etc., and by drinking a lot of fluids to help soften the stool I hope this has been helpful to you, so please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions!
