Hello, I would like to know if these drugs are contraindicated in case of pregnancy: Valaciclovir and rizatriptan. We are trying to conceive and I want to make sure I don't take anything that could harm the baby before I see the doctor for the first pregnancy follow-up appointment. Hello, valacyclovir does not carry any risk in pregnancy, and this at all trimesters As for rizatriptan, few studies have been done in pregnant women. Rizatriptan does not appear to pose a risk of malformation in the baby, but there is an increased risk of prematurity. If a drug from the triptan family is absolutely necessary to treat a migraine, it is recommended to use another drug from the same family, Sumatriptan (Imitrex). Also note that Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) and any other anti-inflammatory medication is contraindicated in the 1st and 3rd trimester. Acetaminophen is safe throughout all 3 trimesters.
