My Mody 2 diabetes is currently fairly well controlled by medication: Onglyza (5 MG) and Gliclazide (80 MG). Is it true that Invocana can cause weight gain? Is it true that Invocana is less likely to cause weight gain?

It is true that Invokana is more weight neutral than the two medications you are taking. In fact, most people even see a weight loss with this medication (in the order of a few pounds). However, this is not without side effects and precautions. First, Invokana causes a decrease in blood pressure (which can be beneficial in some people, it must be said) and fungal infections in the genitals. Also, some people cannot take this medication because their kidneys are not functioning properly enough.

Ask your pharmacist or doctor for advice on Invokana. They know your history and can recommend adjustments to your treatment if you experience side effects.
