I have osteoarthritis in my hip but it takes a long time to see a doctor?

Due to an osteoarthritis problem, I have to receive cortisone infiltrations on my right hip. My family doctor (GMF) tells me that it would be a good idea to consult an orthopedist, but that the wait can be 2 years in Trs-Rivières.

Hello ma'am, I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
It can indeed take a long time to see a specialist. Has your doctor suggested any other treatment besides this, such as physical rehabilitation with a physiotherapist? I sincerely believe that a consultation with one of these professionals would help not only to reduce the pain a little but also to preserve or improve your level of function.
Most group insurances cover this type of service.
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, Pharmacist
