The doctor said it could take 48 hours to take effect but can it take longer? Or should we try again on Monday?

Hello, my son has an infection in both ears since Tuesday. We consulted his doctor and got a prescription for penicillin. We are on the 4th day of treatment, 2x a day and he is still complaining a lot of pain (despite tylenol and adv in rotation).

If you have not noticed an improvement after 48 to 72 hours of treatment, you will have to consult again to re-evaluate the diagnosis and treatment.

fever was no longer related to the ear infection.
