This has happened to me about 6 times. At random times very swollen eye, completely blocked and congested nose, itchy ears. What to do?

It's been happening since I gave birth and it's always several hours after eating so I don't think there's a connection

So far, when I take benadryl (2 tablets), the reaction eventually passes. The last time I had a swollen eye about 12 hours. Should I be concerned and try to see an allergist? I had also started having seasonal allergies after I gave birth in April 2019. I started taking claritin, but I only take it as needed, not on a regular basis since I have been breastfeeding full time since then. I also have a dog, but I've had a dog forever so I don't think it's related.

Good evening ma'am,
It is best to consult a physician, yes.
There are several possible causes for what you describe. Of course, the allergic reaction route is plausible (especially if you're relieving the symptoms with Benadryl™), but we'll need to determine the exact cause and especially the most appropriate treatment to prevent it from becoming more complicated or occurring more often.
Attempt to consult within the next two weeks.
In the meantime, try taking Reactine™ on a daily basis to see if this would be able to prevent future reactions. This will also help the doctor in his quest for diagnosis and determination of treatment.
Good evening,
Alexandre Chagnon, pharmacist
