My 10 month old boy had a 4 day fever and the pediatrician diagnosed him with an ear infection. Could this be the same infection? I don't have ear pain though but I've never had such a sore throat.

Hello Ma'am, I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
Would it be possible to know all the treatments you have tried?

I've been taking Advil and Tylenol alternately every 4 hours or so. I try to drink a lot of water, that's about it.

Thanks for the feedback! You did well with these 2 options for pain (if you don't have any contraindications to taking them; your pharmacist/caregiver can confirm this).
You can also use lozenges like Halls or Fisherman's Friend for local throat relief.
If you have a feeling of sinus pressure, if your nose is stuffy or runny, even a little bit, I highly recommend nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse, and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
I also encourage you to drink plenty of fluids, cold or hot depending on your preference.
If symptoms ever persist for more than 7 days without improvement, or if the fever lasts 72 hours, a doctor should be consulted.
I hope this has been helpful, I remain available if you have any further questions!
