My breasts and nipples hurt. I don't usually have pain. Is it my IUD or the possibility of pregnancy?

Hello, I have had a mirena IUD for 2 years. I don't have any more menstruation, except for brown and/or pink discharge (spotting) for a few days or one day, it can vary. I have unprotected sex with my partner

Hello Mrs,
Have you taken a pregnancy test recently?
Are you able to feel the threads of your IUD?
Are the symptoms you are experiencing permanent or at specific times?

No I haven't taken a pregnancy test yet. That was just my questioning... whether it was appropriate to do one. My IUD still seems to be there. As for the pain, it's been ongoing for a few days. Normally, I don't have any pain in my breasts, even when I'm menstruating

Thanks for the feedback!
As long as these symptoms are mild and temporary, they do not necessarily indicate a problem. I suggest that if these symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks without improvement or get worse, you should consult a doctor.
You can do a pregnancy test if you wish, it is usually recommended to do one from the first expected day of menstruation, but in your case I suggest 2 to 3 weeks after having had unprotected sex, if only as a precaution
