My urethra hurts when I urinate and it was hot when I had sex. I wonder if I have a urinary tract infection?

Hello, when I urinate my urethra hurts. It's like a burning. Yesterday, when I had sex with my boyfriend, my vagina was heating up too (we stopped immediately) I wonder if this is related. I often have to urinate (I drank a lot of water too thinking it's a urinary infection)

Hello!
Pain when urinating and the frequent need to go to the bathroom are two common symptoms of a urinary tract infection. To better assess your condition, I would like to ask you a few more questions:
  • Are you itchy?
  • Have you noticed a whitish (cottage cheese style) or colored discharge?
  • Have you noticed an increase in the amount of discharge?
  • Do you feel a heaviness in your lower abdomen?
  • Is your urine darker or stronger?
  • Do you have a new sexual partner?
Thank you in advance for the clarifications!

No I don't have itching, no I haven't noticed any abnormal discharge, however my discharge is yellowish. I had been consulted for this 4-5 months ago (itss vaginitis/vaginosis test) and I had nothing abnormal, the nurse told me that it was maybe a hormonal imbalance due to my contraceptive implant. I didn't notice that my discharge increased. I have a little discomfort. No I don't have a new sexual partner.

It no longer heats me up when I have to urinate and I don't have to urinate frequently anymore, but it still worries me..

I forgot to mention that yesterday I took some ciprofloxacin (I had prescribed it before I left on my trip just in case). However I just took a pill, I wasn't sure if I had a UTI... and I couldn't remember how to take it.

Thanks for the clarification!
With the current symptoms, it is indeed possible that it is a urinary tract infection. Taking ciprofloxacin may have helped to alleviate the symptoms, as it is an antibiotic that is quite effective for this indication.
Usually, it is an antibiotic that is reserved for more severe UTIs. However, since you already have some on hand and a doctor's appointment may be delayed, you can try treating yourself with what you have at home.
If you have ciproloxacin 500mg, you can take 1/2 tablet twice a day morning and night for 3 days
If you have ciprofloxacin 250mg, you can take 1 tablet twice a day morning and evening for 3 days
If you have ciprofloxacin XL 500mg, you can take 1 tablet once a day for 3 days
The fact that the symptoms have already improved is a good sign! During treatment, it is important to stay well hydrated to keep the urinary system working. If you see that the symptoms tend to return, I advise you to make an appointment with your doctor.
