My throat is sore, I cough a lot, and my nose is congested. Should I be concerned? How do I get rid of the cough and cold?

Hello 😊
At this time, there is no need to worry if you do not have a fever and are not returning from a trip. Here are the steps to take for coronavirus screening if your symptoms change:
  1. Checking for symptoms - Before you go to a screening clinic, you should check for your symptoms. If you have a fever, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, or very severe fatigue, I recommend you go to this site (CoronaCheck) created by Swiss authorities, but very adapted to our situation in Quebec. You will have to answer a few questions, and the tool will make a recommendation.
  2. Call 1-877-644-4545 - If the tool recommends that you see a doctor or be screened, you must call 1-877-644-4545 before going to the screening center in your area. Please note that anyone who has been in close contact with someone who is recommended for testing should also be tested. By close contact, we mean they spent more than 2 hours in the same room as a person to be screened.
  3. Hygiene measures - If the tool does not recommend that you see a doctor or go to a testing center, or if the tool recommends that you do so but you do not do so immediately, the 14-day quarantine is required. Avoid contact with others (especially people over 70), stay home, and then practice hygiene measures diligently. Public transportation is obviously a no-go.
  4. Don't panic! - Serious complications from Coronavirus remain rare. The important thing right now is not to contaminate those around you, and to control the pandemic.
With regard to your second question:
You probably have a virus. There is no treatment to make the virus "go away". You need to be patient, take rest and it should clear up within 10 days.
We can, however, target and relieve the symptoms. You can relieve throat pain with a pain reliever like Tylenolâ„¢ and lozenges. You can also do nasal douches with Sinus Rinseâ„¢ to decrease secretions in the airways.
Don't hesitate if you have any other questions,
Happy day!
