Hello,
Using the Centor score, we will be better able to identify your need to see a doctor or not.
Do you have one or more of these symptoms?
  • Fever > 38°C
  • No cough
  • Tender anterior cervical glands
  • Presence of tonsillar exudates
  • What is your age?
The vast majority of tonsillitis is viral and requires no treatment except to relieve symptoms (acetaminophen, ibuprofen as needed).
I'll be waiting for your response.
Happy to hear from you!

The back of my throat is quite red. Absence of coughing. I am 19 years old!

Actually for the lack of coughing I'm not sure. My throat is irritated so I do cough a little but it's not deep like an all fat

Based on the answers you gave me, there is very little chance that you will need an antibiotic.
I would suggest trying to relieve your sore throat with painkillers.
Here are some suggestions:
  • Acetaminophen
  • Cepacol Extra Strength Lozenges
  • Ibuprofen
Your symptoms should go away in no more than 7 days since they started.
