I have had a sore throat for 3 days and since yesterday I have been having hot flashes/chills. Should I go see a doctor?

Last week I had a sore throat with a white spot on my tonsil (right side) and a few days later it went away by itself. 3 days ago I started to have a sore throat again and since yesterday I have heat and chills but no fever.I'm taking some advils to feel better but no result.my throat is a bit red,but no white button.I was wondering if I should consult a doctor or should I wait until I have other symptoms?I want to specify that I've had strep throat often for a few years! Thanks in advance!

Good morning, Madam,

The fact that you feel hot and have chills surprises me, considering that you say you do not have a fever. Do you take your temperature after taking the Advil, which could help "hide" the fever?

If you do not have great difficulty swallowing, to the point of cutting down on your food, your voice does not change and your neck is not swollen, it is not a cause for concern to delay medical consultation.

You say that you regularly suffer from strep throat. You should know that there is a predictive score that tells us if our symptoms are really like this condition, and if we should get a prescription for antibiotics. These are the Centor criteria, which are listed in the document here (https://www.inesss.qc.ca/fileadmin/doc/CDM/UsageOptimal/Guides-serieI/INESSS-Antibio1-PharyngiteAmygdalite-fr_maj-mars16.pdf).

You will see that thanks to this tool, we are able to evaluate the probability that you suffer from a condition requiring a consultation/antibiotic, considering that the vast majority of sore throats like the one you have are viral in origin and will pass by themselves.
