There is indeed a risk of addiction with this medication. In fact, many patients I have seen in my practice who are addicted to opioids (the Oxycocet family of drugs) seem to say that this problem stems from a prescription for pain medication by a dentist.

It is wiser to use only Tylenol and to use cold compresses on the cheeks. If necessary, ask her pharmacist if other medications could be tried based on her history and medication history.
