What can I do about the smell that has developed in my nose, despite the improvement in my flu symptoms?

Hello, for the last 10 days I have been congested. I had a fever the first days with a sore throat. Then, the cough started and the sore throat stopped. I see a gradual improvement in my symptoms. However, for the past two days, I have developed an unpleasant odor in my mouth/sinus. I could simply describe the smell as the breath of an elderly person...

If I may add, for the last 10 days, my secretions are thick and greenish, I do 2 to 3 sinus rinses a day, I have Avamys brand drops for my nose, which I was prescribed at the emergency room.

Hi, ma'am,
Would it be possible to know what you have taken or tried for your symptoms?

I took ibuprofen the majority of the time at 4am, I also took some cold and sinus.

I also take pumps that my doctor prescribed when I start coughing

Thanks for the feedback!
Lozenges such as Halls or Fisherman's Friend if needed can provide local relief from throat irritation.
If your ears are not completely blocked, I strongly suggest nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. By 'cleaning' the nasal secretions, we can reduce the feeling of pressure in the sinuses and prevent them from flowing backwards into the throat which very often causes coughing. It's a bit unpleasant but it works wonders!
I encourage you to drink lots of fluids, cold or hot, as you prefer.
If symptoms persist for more than 7 days without improvement, you should see a doctor.
I hope I've been helpful and I'm available if you have any other questions!

Yes indeed, all the proposed solutions are done, as I mentioned! My question was more directed towards the unpleasant smell of my sinuses/throat. As mentioned, for the past 11 days, I have been doing 2 to 3 sinus rinses a day. I have had a great improvement in my symptoms. Despite the improvement, the odor has appeared for 3 days and does not seem to disappear. I wanted to know if the smell was normal and if it will go away by itself. I thought I had sinusitis.

Thanks for the feedback!
The measures mentioned are also intended to reduce the smell. It is impossible to determine if sinusitis is the cause after 3 days, especially if your other symptoms have subsided. For this reason, I recommend that you consult after 7 days if necessary.
