My baby has a cold, I think he has conjunctivitis?

My 4 month old baby has had a cough and runny nose for 5 days now. It seems to be a simple cold, but since yesterday, there is a lot of yellowish secretions coming out of his eyes.

Good morning, ma'am,
The term conjunctivitis describes an inflammation of the conjunctiva. In most cases, it is viral in origin, such as in people who suffer from a cold
What I can suggest is to use a clean wet towel to clean the area as needed, without reusing or sharing it as it can be contagious. Don't be concerned if you ever notice that both eyes are affected, this is often the case during a cold.
Just like a cold, the situation tends to go away after 5 to 7 days at most.
If, however, the situation persists for more than 7 days or gets worse (for example, the secretions become greenish throughout the day), you should consult a doctor or optometrist.
I hope I've been helpful and will be available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
