Will the antibiotic work if it has not worked in the past?

My son has already taken the antibiotic RAN CEFPROZIL 250MG/5ML S in June. The antibiotic had not completely resolved his infection and we had to change antibiotics. On Monday the 31st he was prescribed RAN CEFPROZIL 250MG/5ML again. Does this mean it won't work? Or is this unrelated? Thank you

Hello ma'am, for which infection was this antibiotic prescribed? What is the prescribed dose, and the weight of your child?

For an ear infection, 5 ml 2 x per day for 10 days. He weighs 30 lbs

Thanks for the feedback! It is indeed an adequate dose for the indication and weight of your little one. Having said that, I want to reassure you that a previous failure with cefprozil does not necessarily mean that it will be ineffective in the future. We will only avoid using this antibiotic a second time within 3 months.
