Hello!
First of all, I have to tell you again the sanitary measures recommended by the public health. As long as you are sick, it is important to isolate yourself.
Before going to a screening clinic, you should check your risk level of contracting the coronavirus.
1. Check your symptoms
Go to thefollowing address to find out if your current symptoms warrant medical attention or if you should be screened.
2. Hygiene measures
If you have flu-like symptoms, a 14-day quarantine is required. Avoid contact with others (especially people over 70 years of age), stay home, and then practice good hygiene. Do not use public transportation
3. No need to panic
Serious complications from the Coronavirus are rare. The important thing right now is not to contaminate those around you, to control the pandemic and not to make yourself sick with the anxiety that the current situation may generate. If you are feeling overwhelmed or very stressed, consult the next page.
Finally, if you are suffering from a virus, unfortunately there is nothing to fight it. Rest and hydration are the key. Generally, after 7 days, the symptoms should diminish. If not, you may have bacterial sinusitis and a consultation with a doctor would be appropriate to see if you could benefit from antibiotic treatment
In the meantime, to reduce symptoms, rinsing the sinuses with saline water 2 to 3 times a day can help with nasal congestion and also with secretions that run down the throat and cause coughing.
Also, a pain reliever such as Tylenol or Advil may help with aches and pains and a decongestant may also reduce symptoms. You may want to contact your pharmacist to make sure these products are compatible with your medications, allergies or health problems.
I hope this is helpful to you,
Marie-Laurence Gauthier, pharmacist.
