If I explain the situation to my pharmacist, can he increase my dosage of antidepressants while waiting for my doctor to return?

Hello, I've been taking antidepressants for 2 years, but for the last 3 months it's been really bad. I wrote to the psychologist at my school to have a follow-up with her. However, I could really use some extra help, but my doctor & his nurse are on vacation, so it's impossible to communicate with them about my medication.

Hello, I would encourage you to talk to your pharmacist about this.
I don't know if it will be possible to change your dose temporarily because there are a lot of questions to ask and each situation is unique. However, it will help to establish a game plan going forward and you will know a little more about whether or not you need to reconsult. A communication with your physician could also be sent through the pharmacy in certain situations.
There are some tools that could be used (such as the PHQ-9 questionnaire) with your pharmacist to better guide you.
If you are having suicidal thoughts, I encourage you to contact the Suicide Info Line as soon as possible at
1 866-APPELLE (277-3553).
Take care of yourself.
