Hello,
First, clonazepam has been shown in some studies to slightly lower or stabilize blood pressure. Clonazepam has been used in a daily dose of 1 to 2 mg in combination with conventional antihypertensive drugs to prevent excessive fluctuations in blood pressure in certain patient groups. However, this is a very poorly known use and not really recommended.
Secondly, I find the 5 mg dose to help you sleep very high. Often, one should not exceed 2 mg to sleep
This product is considered potentially inappropriate for use in people 60 years and older because of their increased sensitivity to benzodiazepines. Agents in this class increase the risk of cognitive impairment, delirium, falls and fractures
It is recommended that use be limited to a maximum of 4 weeks, and gradual withdrawal is recommended if they are to be discontinued or switched to another medication
There are several other solutions that can be tried to help with insomnia: Natural health products (Relaxen Night, Melatonin, Valerian, Passionflower, etc.), prescription products (Desyrel, Elavil, etc.)
