I have type 2 diabetes. I have two glucose meters, FreeStyle Insulink and OneTouch VerioFlex. The latter model always gives me a morning reading 0.5-0.6 higher than the FreeStyle. Which one should I trust?

All the details are in my question except for a typo, it is of course the OneTouch model and not InTouch...

Disparities between capillary glucose meters are common. It is very difficult for me to tell you which one best reflects your "true" blood glucose value, but know that such a small variation is considered normal and is inherent to the detection limits associated with this type of meter.

If you really want to know which of these 2 devices would be more reliable, I suggest that you bring them to your next medical appointment. Ask your doctor or his nurse to measure your capillary blood sugar. Then, take it on the same finger with your two devices and compare!

The device that is closest to the physician's reading is more likely to accurately reflect your "true" capillary blood glucose.
